The word sparrow · Curator-led tours

The exhibition "Wayword" is taking place at the SODAS 2123 Project Space (Vitebsko St. 21, second floor) until 17 October, curated by Vincentas Zienka.

For some time, the working title of the exhibition was "Excursion", so curator Vincentas Zienka invites you to meet and fulfill it – to hear about the situation constructed by echoes and names, in which the curator's words, turned into birds, appear as metaphors of promise and change.

Guided tours with the curator will take place on:

14 October (Wednesday) | 20:00. 17 October (Saturday) | 16:00.

The exhibition will be open until 17 October.

Opening hours: Thu-Fri 16:00-19:00; Sat 13:00-17:00.

The exhibition "Wayword" is set in the former project space "Swallow", from whose name and remaining echoes a new situation is created, and birds appear as metonymies of promise, memory and change.

New works created specifically for the exhibition become the artists' attempts to deviate from the usual modes of expression in their practices, testing new forms; as these excursions intertwine with the changing roles of the participants, the exhibition itself constantly dismantles and reconfigures itself. Words, words, sparrows... a world suspended on its own tropes, beheading a chimera at the ends of Baroque furniture.

Artists: Gediminas G. Akstinas, Ugnė Marini Gelgotaitė, Anya Karanevskaya, Ieva Holografienė, Lukas Mykolaitis, Gerda Paliušytė, Kamilė Pikelytė and Neda Rimaitė.

Curator: Vincentas Zienka.

The exhibition design is part of Kamilė Pikelytė’s ongoing project "Spąstai" (Traps).

The exhibition is part of the Emerging Curators Platform, an educational and mentorship programme for emerging curators aimed at strengthening practical curatorial skills and fostering collaboration within the contemporary art field. This year’s platform is curated by artist and curator Ona Juciūtė.
