WHAT THE FUNK is a street dance battle event focused on funk dance styles (popping, locking, waacking). The event was first organized in 2023, featuring numerous street dancers from Lithuania and abroad. At that time, WHAT THE FUNK became one of the most prominent street dance events and the only one in Lithuania focusing specifically on funk dance styles. The dance floor brought together dancers from Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Spain, and France.
This year, on October 17–18, WHAT THE FUNK returns, even stronger – the judges' seats will be occupied by three well-known, prominent dancers who confidently represent their styles: Monika Čibiraitė – Kozo from Lithuania (popping), Ariadna Arànega – Lady Campbellock from Spain (locking), and Kajtek Januszkiewicz from Poland (waacking).
On October 17, these judges will take their places at Lukiškės Prison 2.0, where all street dance enthusiasts – both participants and spectators – will gather. On October 18, we will meet again at the Low Air dance school for the WHAT THE FUNK judges' workshops.
The goal of this event is to bring members of the street dance community together in one place, providing a space for representatives of funk dance styles to gather, grow, expand, and strengthen the dance community. We also aim to introduce new members of the street dance community to street dance culture and funk dance styles in Lithuania, engage young people, and provide an opportunity to learn more about this field through volunteering activities.
