VILNIUS BROADWAY. Legends of Gediminas Avenue
A tour of the main street of our city (and perhaps, the entire country)!
Straight and wide, it leads to Cathedral Square - the heart of the capital.
Who can count now how many times foreign and local armies have marched along the avenue? Or participants of political and other demonstrations?
To march along the avenue is like asserting one's right to Vilnius.
The avenue has changed its name many times: St. George, Adam Mickiewicz, Stalin, Lenin. Until, finally, it received the name of the city's founder – Gediminas Avenue...!
In my youth, we simply called it "Broadway"...
