"Speak to me, Tūla, whisper to me when the glow illuminates the high, already red walls of the Bernardine Church ever more brightly, when the Vilnelė bubbles like lava under all its bridges, and most fiercely here, by the Bernardines, when rare passersby, seeing a heavy rain cloud, quicken their pace and, looking back fearfully, hurry to their urban caves, when the cloud hangs very close – above Bekešas Hill and the Panonietis Hill, above the dark red cliff exposure – speak and tell me, who will remind us of a love as sticky as a contagious disease, never shouted out in midwinter courtyards, yet not splattered with city mud – so belated and useless – useless even to this street prepared for rain, to the cluster of old trees on the bank, even to the glow illuminating the Bernardines, and to that ever-approaching cloud, which has already stopped above the grayish Bekešas tower, who, well tell me, who?"
This is how J. Kunčinas' arguably best novel, "Tūla," begins, which this tour will be based on. It is a novel not only about feelings but also about time, which changes people and the city. We will travel through places where the real and imagined action takes place: some have remained the same, others have changed significantly but still exist, and others no longer exist at all, yet they will always remain on the pages of the book. We will talk about the text, meanings, feelings, and words spoken or left in thoughts.
I recommend coming to this tour after having read the book, but it will be clear even to those who haven't :)
