"Tango Furioso" is a performance that weaves together elements of traditional and contemporary tango. The choreography reflects both classic tango and modern interpretations of this dance, which breathe new life into tango culture. This is not just a show; it is a story of an emotional journey, inviting the audience to immerse themselves in the world of tango, where feelings are expressed not through words, but through body language.
"Tango is a dance that holds the full power of life: from deep melancholy to joyful triumph, from tender love to uncontrollable passion, but the best news about tango is that it never ends," asserts Sigitas Repšys, head and choreographer of the Vilnius Tango Theatre.
"The word 'Furioso' means 'furious' in Spanish," says choreographer and co-director Alexis Gonzalez, "but this word is not necessarily negative. Fury can also be a creative force, a storm that cleanses, brings in fresh air, disperses old emotions, and prepares space for new ones. Our performance 'Tango Furioso' seeks to convey this feeling – it is energetic, intense, full of life and passion, and every movement, every musical note is saturated with this powerful energy that we want to transmit to the audience."
"Each dancer gives a part of themselves to the characters they create, which is why 'Tango Furioso' is so unique. We do not aim to just replicate traditions; we create something new, inspired by old roots, but modern and alive," say the creators of the tango show.
