The exhibition "Vėra: Between Reality and the Frame" is opening at the Vilnius Museum's Beatričė House. It presents the interwar photographic legacy of the graphic artist, painter, photographer, and educator Veronika Šleivytė (1906–1998).
"– your Vėra" became the artist's signature on postcards. By sending the photographs she created, and sometimes self-portraits, to her loved ones, the artist shared not only moments of everyday life but also the world she was creating herself.
The exhibition invites you to take a fresh look at interwar daily life and photography. In Šleivytė's photographs, it is difficult to distinguish where everyday life ends and the image she creates begins: she directs the scenes herself and involves herself in them. As you observe the exhibited works, we invite you to search together for the space between reality and the frame.
The exhibition opens on September 25 at 6:00 PM. "Vėra: Between Reality and the Frame" will run until November 22; it can be visited during museum opening hours with a purchased ticket. Admission is free on the opening day.
