Artistic portraits by photographer and photojournalist Ludo Segers (Luxembourg/Canada) will "meet" music of various genres selected by the Music Magic Club this evening.
When looking at a human portrait, we sometimes unconsciously create its story ourselves. But what happens when that same gaze, or a facial expression captured in a moment, is accompanied by the sound of music? Does what we see change?
For each of Ludo's shots, the club's founder, Artašės, has selected unique pieces of different genres and sounds to be played from recordings. Who knows, perhaps the music will allow us to see the person captured in the portrait differently?
Ludo Segers will present each photograph in English.
Ludo Segers is a photographer, journalist, and educator who explores the intersections of history, power, and atmosphere in his work. Throughout his career, his lens has captured individuals in the highest positions of power – from the Obama and Biden White House to the Élysée Palace in France or royal palaces in Norway and the Netherlands. However, as he says himself, the soul of his work lies in the "silence between the frames."
Stylist Véronique Lejeune once pondered whether Ludo was a photographer or a philosopher – and concluded that he is both. In 2017, due to his exceptionally high visual literacy competencies, Ludo was invited to MoMA (The Museum of Modern Art in New York) to become a mentor for the "Seeing Through Photographs" course. There, Ludo helped hundreds of students from all over the world learn to "read" images and develop a new, critical gaze.
