Employees say you never know what the Monster will surprise you with, so be prepared for the unexpected.
Together with a guide, you will travel through the streets of the power plant, walk through the corridors of the Monster, visit the basement made famous by the HBO series "Chernobyl", and most importantly, be among the first to see the ongoing energy transformation and the construction site of the green hydrogen plant.
The vast territory, covering more than 20 hectares, is like a small town with its own streets, history, and secrets. At its center is a red-brick building that employees have nicknamed the Monster. From here, heat travels through more than 770 km of pipes, like blood vessels, to the homes of Vilnius residents. How is it created? What kind of equipment hums inside the Monster? Why are bullets found in biofuel?
Greeted from afar by its tall chimneys, the Vilnius Thermal Power Plant No. 2 invites you to learn and understand how heat, hot water, and electricity are produced, and to see with your own eyes how old technologies are being replaced by efficient innovations. It is one of the most interesting operating industrial sites in the Baltic states.
Participants in the tour must follow all safety requirements, stay with the group, and not touch any equipment.
