Composer and improvising pianist Tomas Kutavičius is one of those rare creators who work quietly, without fanfare or a desire to stand out in the public sphere. His own music and the Muse that inspires it are enough for him—an invisible but powerful impulse to which he faithfully surrenders and which leads him each time along a different, yet unknown path.
In this solo concert, Tomas Kutavičius will sit at the piano and improvise, listening to himself and to what is happening around him. His music is an open field of emotions, full of living states and moods that change naturally, as if in the rhythm of nature.
Listening to Tomas's improvisations, one can hear nature itself: the elements, gusts of wind, the silence of the morning or the peace of twilight, the rippling of lake waters, or the cry of birds in the distance. This is not an illustration of sounds, but a sense of their authenticity.
Despite the emotional abundance, every improvisation has a clear form and internal structure. These are independent microworlds that have their own logic and breath, yet harmoniously merge into a single whole. This harmony naturally affects the listener and creates a space for experience.
Tomas Kutavičius is also an experienced author of academic music, having composed significant works for piano, chamber ensembles, choir, and orchestra.
On December 12, the Muzikos magijos klubas will host an author's evening of Tomas Kutavičius's work, part of the "Lithuanian Composers' Author Evenings" series.
