Bypassing new construction and typical collective garden projects, we will wind through the old Pavilniai, whose true name is the Railway Workers' Colony. A good hundred years ago, we could have reached the wooden and brick villas standing here from Vilnius on foot, by carriage, or by 'liukstorpeda'. Today, having arrived by car, train, or bus, we will visit the only wooden church in Vilnius, see the water tower where people now live, pass by the childhood home of a famous writer that is constantly playing strange music, peek into a tiny cemetery, wind through the only mountain serpentine in Lithuania (well, yes, that's a bold statement, but the fact remains!), and not to mention the sun setting over the Vilnelė, the magical tree, flowers growing in a suitcase, and swings on Jobūbas Hill - these are just a few of the magically charming details of Lower and Upper Pavilniai.
Meeting point: 'Pavilnys' train station. You can reach it by train, bus 13, or car. If you arrive by car, please leave it on Tuputiškių St. or Žemoji St. In your navigation, you can enter the address Žemoji g. 22. End point: 'Pavilnys' train stop. Duration: ~ 2.5 hours.
Please do not be late and have a saved copy of your ticket on your phone.
What if it rains? We will still travel, just don't forget your ☔ and appropriate clothing :)
