Program: Excerpts from the musical "The Sound of Music" by Richard Rodgers. Arranged by Gediminas Kviklys
For 60 years, the musical "The Sound of Music" has been heard on stages and in cinemas around the world. It is a sincere love story based on true events: the life story of the main character Maria, Captain Georg von Trapp, and his children continues to move audiences of all ages. The musical premiered on Broadway in New York in 1959, with music by Richard Rodgers and lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II. In 1965, the immortal feature film starring Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer was released in cinemas.
Entire generations already know the memorable melodies of the musical, and many have played or sung its songs: "Do-Re-Mi", "Edelweiss", "My Favorite Things", and others. Today, excerpts from "The Sound of Music" are presented by the ensemble "Musica humana" and a group of its friends.
