British music aesthetes The Cinematic Orchestra return to the capital this autumn
Another piece of pleasant concert news!
The British group The Cinematic Orchestra, which blends contemporary jazz and electronica, is returning to Vilnius. It has been confirmed that The Cinematic Orchestra will hold their only performance in the Baltic states at the Compensa concert hall on October 9.
Here is yet another reason to look forward to autumn. We should thank the music agency 8 Days A Week for this.
"A short escape from the studio, where we are currently working on a new album," The Cinematic Orchestra announced regarding their European performances. The news is big. The group has recently been joined by new members who will also visit the capital. The group's mastermind and leader Jason Swinscoe will appear on stage, along with Al MacSween (keyboardist), Ellis Dupuy (a drummer already familiar to us, who also plays with Nilüfer Yanya!), and Vini Cajado (bassist).
A true joy awaits our ears and eyes. A concert as pure as a film. Impressive visual solutions are an inseparable part of The Cinematic Orchestra's performances. Conceptually selected images highlight The Cinematic Orchestra's music instead of letting it just float in the background. In live The Cinematic Orchestra performances, sound and image merge into a seamless, highly cinematic experience. It is not for nothing that cinema lovers praise them so much.
"Restrained and tasteful electronica," writes The Guardian about The Cinematic Orchestra. The music publication NME says that The Cinematic Orchestra are elegant, intellectual, and highly emotional, while Pitchfork describes them as simply magnificent. What more is there to add? Perhaps only that they are supported by the influential music label Ninja Tune. A clear stamp of quality!
The Cinematic Orchestra has been creating a unique soundscape between jazz and electronica for over two decades. They always strive for more and something more interesting. Jason Swinscoe has brought together experienced instrumentalists who draw inspiration from jazz traditions and interpret them in their own way. The Cinematic Orchestra has had a major influence on many famous jazz musicians. Kendrick Lamar, Kamasi Washington, Thundercat, Sons of Kemet, BadBadNotGood, Floating Points, and even Ólafur Arnalds – The Cinematic Orchestra showed them all the way to modern jazz and served as a great inspiration.
The Cinematic Orchestra has performed in prestigious concert halls around the world. Sold-out shows at the Royal Albert Hall in London, the Philharmonie de Paris, the Parco della Musica in Rome, and even the Sydney Opera House. They also performed at the Directors Guild of America Awards, where legendary director Stanley Kubrick was honored with a lifetime achievement award.
The group teaches listeners patience and attentiveness. The Cinematic Orchestra's pieces unfold gradually, layer by layer, allowing you to slowly immerse yourself in a certain mood. Atmospheric sound, musical dreams, and moving vocals. Sound here is like a storyteller. Instead of rushing to reach a climax, it leads you sloooowly towards it.
This concert is seated. You will only need to get comfortable, set your mood, and the professionals – The Cinematic Orchestra – will take care of the journey through space and time.

The Cinematic Orchestra – excellent soundtrack creators
The Cinematic Orchestra even has an IMDb account. Soundtracks are a large and important part of The Cinematic Orchestra's work. They have scored films such as Man with a Movie Camera (dir. Dziga Vertov), the Disney documentary The Crimson Wing, which features the track "Arrival of the Birds," later used in the Oscar-winning The Theory of Everything (dir. James Marsh), and many others.
In the world of film music, The Cinematic Orchestra stands out for their ability to combine live instruments and electronics. Their music simply sticks organically to the visuals. The Cinematic Orchestra's soundtracks do not retell what is already visible on the screen, but add a separate layer. Many filmmakers name The Cinematic Orchestra's music as an independent storytelling force.
The Cinematic Orchestra is now immersed in new creative work and, after a long break, announced that they will perform in only 5 European cities: Hamburg, Istanbul, Düsseldorf, Sofia, and Vilnius. Live The Cinematic Orchestra performances are enchanting and allow you to slow your breathing. It will be a huge privilege to meet them again and experience them live in the capital. The last time they visited Vilnius was back in 2019, and it became the most important concert of that season.
The Cinematic Orchestra returns to Vilnius on October 9 and, in their own unique style, will provide the soundtrack for the Lithuanian autumn.
Don't miss this performance!
