Šernas does what normal people don't.

On October 31st, we are opening a can, or even cans, of the legendary Swedish fermented herring - surströmming.

Yes, that one. The one that makes people film each other vomiting. The one that is recommended to be opened outdoors. And the one that Swedes actually eat, rather than just using it to scare the internet.

We will do it the right way: surströmming with traditional sides, without the "who can endure the smell longer" circus. We will taste it, learn how and why it originated, and finally check if the taste is really as terrible as its reputation.

Limited spots available. There should be enough smell for everyone.
