Baltas Teatras presents: stand-up from Amsterdam — Ari Helderman and Mikhail Grevtsov for the first time in Vilnius!
About the evening: Two comedians from the Netherlands, known to audiences from Amsterdam to Zurich, are finally coming to Vilnius. One evening, two solo performances, and one shared story: a Dutchman who became a bit of a Russian, and a Russian who became a bit of a Dutchman.
Ari Helderman — a true Dutchman who learned Russian so well that he now performs stand-up in it. His YouTube channel "Ari govorit po-russki" has 160,000 subscribers, and his videos have garnered over 26 million views. Ari talks about life in the Netherlands from the inside and from the outside: about dating, daily habits, cultural differences, and those moments when "normal" in one country means "weird" in another.
Mikhail Grevtsov — the "two-meter-tall Dutchman from Voronezh," one of the founders of the Russian-speaking stand-up scene in the Netherlands. He moved to Amsterdam as an adult and has been joking ever since about the quintessential immigrant experience: how to integrate into a new country without losing yourself, and why the logic you've been used to since childhood stops working in a new place.
Why you should see it:
A look from both sides: a Dutchman on Russians and a Russian on the Dutch — a rare duo where each laughs at themselves first, and only then at the other.
About us: if you live somewhere other than where you were born, and every day you translate not just words but yourself into another language — many of these stories will feel like your own.
Intimate venue: 220 seats, visible and audible from any row — this is exactly how stand-up should sound.
One evening, two comedians, and a lot of truth about life between cultures — funny truths.
