About this event

A world without subtitles (n16) Speaking about autism

Where words are not enough, the hand shadow theater speaks.

The hand shadow theater play "A World Without Subtitles" tells the story of a young man with autism spectrum disorder. Despite finding an oasis of peace in the water, the boy is forced to face social challenges on land - endless questions, information overload, behavioral rules, and constant pressure to fit in. The fragmentary structure of the play will open the door to the memories of a person with autism spectrum disorder, allowing us to get to know his daily life. His greatest desire is to be understood. Perhaps we are not so different after all?

The play is based on Naoki Higashida's book "The Reason I Jump," which has become an important voice in discussing the autism spectrum. The young man's experiences on stage turn into a sensitive narrative about neurodiversity, the pressure to fit in, and the right to be oneself.

Recommended age rating: N16
