Electronic music icon Moby to perform in Vilnius this August
On August 8, 2026, global electronic music icon Moby will hold a concert in Vilnius. Returning to touring after more than a decade, Moby will perform at Kalnų parkas as part of the "Sounds Good Vilnius" music festival taking place in the capital this summer.
Moby, whose real name is Richard Melville Hall, rose to worldwide fame in 1999 with the release of his album "Play". By blending electronic, blues, and downtempo music, Moby created seminal musical gems such as "Honey", "Porcelain", "Flower", "Why Does My Heart Feel So Bad?", "Natural Blues", and "Bodyrock". The album "Play", highly acclaimed by both music critics and listeners, was also included in Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time.
Take this pivotal album in Moby's career, add a few other hits like "In This World", "We Are All Made of Stars", "Lift Me Up", "In My Heart", "Extreme Ways", "Go", "When It's Cold I'd Like To Die", and more, and you get an almost perfect setlist. This is exactly what we can expect from Moby and his band. Plus, now with slightly more modern arrangements.
Moby is not just a versatile musician, singer, composer, and producer. He is also a director, author, photographer, active blogger, and a dedicated animal and human rights activist. Born in New York in 1965, he began studying music theory and playing classical music on piano and guitar at the age of 9. After becoming interested in punk rock in the 1980s, he played in various bands before turning toward DJing and rave.
Moby gained his first recognition in 1991 with the release of the single "Go". Since then, Moby has released 22 studio albums with total sales of over 20 million. Musically, all of Moby's albums are quite diverse – ranging from electronic, techno, and ambient music to rock and even punk rock. Typically, Moby records all or most of the album material himself.
Many of Moby's works have been nominated for or have won prestigious music awards such as the Grammys, Billboard Music Awards, Brit Awards, MTV, NME, and others. In addition to creating his own music, Moby has produced or remixed recordings for famous musicians and bands such as David Bowie, Ozzy Osbourne, The Beastie Boys, Daft Punk, Public Enemy, and others. Many of his tracks have also been featured in popular films, such as "The Beach" with Leonardo DiCaprio, the "Bourne" film series with Matt Damon, or "Tomorrow Never Dies" with Pierce Brosnan. Moby is also the author of 4 books, including "Porcelain: A Memoir" (2016) and "Then It Fell Apart" (2019).
Even as a global music star, Moby remains completely down-to-earth. Instead of limousines, bodyguards, and other luxuries, he chooses to interact with patrons of New York or Los Angeles cafes and participate in various animal rights advocacy events. Moby donates a significant portion of his income to charity, jokingly remarking about it himself: "I am the only middle-aged idiot who goes on tour and loses money."
