Sound, scent, and sensory performance "Vėjų Motė" for people with visual impairments, or those who want to experience the world differently.
Stalo teatras invites you to a sound, scent, and sensory performance to see the world differently, from the perspective of darkness, "seen" not with the eyes, but with other senses – ears, nose, fingertips, and most importantly, the heart.
Based on an ancient Baltic legend about the third brother who set out to find his happiness, symbolized in the legend by his beloved maiden – or his second Sun, the story is followed by two narrators – the story's voice artists. Step by step, adventure by adventure, they embark on a journey full of the magic of sounds, scents, and winds together with the audience, safely leading them through meadows and forests, floating across rivers, flying upwards, and descending to the very depths. But with one condition – the brave young audience members travel on this journey blindfolded. And they don't just travel; they touch, feel, experience, and discover the world in the dark. How is it different? How does it smell, how does it sound? Is it hard to navigate? And finally – what does it mean to be blind?
In the performance, as always at Stalo teatras, objects controlled by the actors are used. In this performance, they come straight from a modern kitchen, although their purpose on stage is to "play" the characters of the ancient Baltic legend. The audience can touch, smell, and guess them. The multi-layered verbal fabric of the story – the creators of the performance ingeniously enrich the narrative text, which breathes with legendary sacredness, with fun and unexpected onomatopoeic additions characteristic of Lithuanian sutartinės. According to the director, Stalo teatras dedicates the performance "Vėjų Motė" to people with visual impairments, or those who want to experience the world differently. Therefore, school-age viewers, whether sighted, visually impaired, or completely blind, are invited. Together, they will experience that darkness can not only hide but also reveal, not only ring emptily but also resonate. That in it, forests rustle and flowers bloom just the same, birds soar, ants scurry, fish dive, and that it is full of sounds, movement, scents, and it is not scary to be in it at all.
