The duo of anger and irony, Sleaford Mods, will present a new album about the end of the world in the capital
Another big piece of news! The UK duo of anger and irony, Sleaford Mods, will present a new album about the end of the world in the capital this autumn.
Mark the date on your calendars in neon. The Sleaford Mods show in Vilnius is scheduled for October 30th at Kablys, which suits them perfectly. The eye-catching neon Sleaford Mods autumn tour poster features only 12 cities. This exclusive performance in the capital will be their only one in the Baltic states.
Another full-length concert and a beautiful continuation of the duo's friendship with 8 Days A Week. Given the context, the fact that Sleaford Mods are coming to Lithuania for the third time seems even more impressive.
Sleaford Mods are one of the most biting, accurate, and energetic names in modern British music. A nervous voice of the British working class that fears nothing and speaks the truth with emphasis. Post-punk veterans armed with profanity and irony. Sleaford Mods pull your leg, annoy you, and point a finger at the truth.
Sleaford Mods' humor is biting, and their anger is real. Over more than fifteen years, Sleaford Mods have created something that cannot be achieved by a cool image or a perfectly crafted marketing strategy alone. The combination of minimal electronics and maximally accurate insights has become a kind of creative manifesto for an entire generation of artists.
Today, Sleaford Mods are one of the most unique musical phenomena of the last decade.
True punk and Sleaford Mods frontman Jason Williamson pours out lyrics that are both harsh social criticism and quality stand-up. It shakes you up, and sometimes makes you laugh. He is like that angry dog in your backyard, off its leash. The other half of the duo, Andrew Fearn, takes care of the sound, produces, and has a rather comedic role on stage. At live Sleaford Mods shows, Andrew takes care of the good "vibe" and changes the backing tracks with his computer. With just lyrics and their energy, they manage to bring thousands to their knees. "Anger and humor are their main forces. Live Sleaford Mods shows are relentlessly powerful," writes The Guardian.

"The Demise of Planet X"
You really don't need to worry. It's just the end of the world.
This end of the world doesn't come with a big bang, cinematic effects, or riding through the desert on Mad Max motorcycles. Sleaford Mods offer a much more realistic and, at the same time, more terrifying scenario: everything is just getting worse bit by bit and slowly decaying. It's so familiar and realistic that it's scary. Sleaford Mods predict that humanity will not be destroyed by a sudden cataclysm, but by social indifference and selfish corruption.
The latest Sleaford Mods release turned out to be deep, extremely personal, and free of any clichés.
"We are chasing mass consumption and money, in other words, beating a dead horse. Meanwhile, regions of the world are falling apart, and the West is simply ignoring it," is how Jason Williamson introduces the new album.
"Jason once again confronts the state of the world as confused and furious as ever, and he is assisted by unexpected collaborators: Gwendoline Christie, Aldous Harding, Big Special, Sue Tompkins, and Liam Bailey," writes The Guardian about the new Sleaford Mods release.
"Sleaford Mods are the Sex Pistols of our time. With colorful noise, sharp wisdom, and sprechgesang, they remind us that we must not give up without a fight," adds the music publication NME.
"The Demise of Planet X" features the angular and energetic electronics characteristic of Sleaford Mods, but this album has much more depth and nuance. "This time I drew inspiration from bands like The Specials, The Selecter, and my own tears. I've been crying more often lately, and that has affected my work. More importantly, it has brought peace to my personal relationships," says Jason, speaking about the influence of psychotherapy on his lyrics and life. The thirteen tracks on "The Demise of Planet X" affect the heart, mind, and body.
"People say that society has become numb to the horror we see in the news. I feel similarly about my lyrics. I don't even know myself if there is more or less anger in them. Now I speak more subtly and don't mention names. I no longer want to give those people even five minutes of attention," says Jason.
It is unlikely that anyone could voice the slowly rotting world more accurately than Sleaford Mods. A kind of collapse has never sounded so diverse and vibrant. Sleaford Mods have created another highly impactful album that will live until the very end of the world... whenever it decides to arrive.
We are once again in for a lot of truth from the speakers. Be sure to attend this concert!
