About this event

Important! Please be informed that due to unforeseen circumstances, the concert originally scheduled for May 28th has been rescheduled to September 9th.

A concert of wonderful French music featuring works by C. Debussy, M. Ravel, G. Fauré, and other composers.

Three talented performers – Silvija Vaitkevičiūtė (violin), Mindaugas Zimkus (tenor), and Paulė Gudinaitė (piano) – invite you into a dreamlike and subtle world of French music. In the music of French and French-spirited composers from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, impressionistic light, sensitive lyricism, irony, and a light shadow of melancholy intertwine.

The axis of the evening consists of the intertwining sounds of violin, voice, and piano. In vocal compositions, French poetry opens up through an intimate relationship between music and word – from dreamy melancholy to a playful, sometimes ironic look at feelings. In instrumental works, the same emotional world is extended without text: through the flexibility of the line, harmonic tension, and subtle changes in timbre.

In the music of Claude Debussy and Maurice Ravel, an intangible atmosphere and a play of light and shadow unfold, while the works of Gabriel Fauré breathe with inner peace, gentle longing, and elegance. In the songs of Francis Poulenc, a more modern, sometimes even paradoxical relationship with the text is felt, while the opuses of Ernest Chausson and Camille Saint-Saëns provide the program with a broader emotional spectrum – from intense lyrical expression to dramatic movement. In the songs of George Enescu, the French tradition takes on a distinct, personal, and somewhat unexpected nuance.
