About this event

What is the connection between the Lithuanian musical genius M. K. Čiurlionis and the work of Raminta Šerkšnytė, born exactly 100 years later? How does the union of major and minor resonate in her music? How did her bachelor's thesis "De profundis" for string orchestra, which maestro Gidon Kremer called the "visiting card of Baltic music," become one of her most frequently performed compositions in the world? What mystical stories accompany the birth of the opus "...and this too shall pass..."?

The Music Magic Club invites you to a meeting with composer Raminta Šerkšnytė, where not only recordings of her extremely rare or never-before-performed works in Lithuania will be heard, but also the first performance of her latest work "Etudes" in Vilnius! They will be performed by the talented, internationally acclaimed pianist Onutė Gražinytė.

The event will be moderated by musicologist Rasa Murauskaitė-Juškienė. We invite you to an evening full of emotions, poetry, and mysticism in music!

The project is funded by the Lithuanian Council for Culture.

Evening program:

"Gloria" for brass quintet, choir, and symphony orchestra (2017, recording)

"Sakura" for three choirs (2018, recording)

"Intuitions" for flute, viola, and prepared pianos (2002, recording)

"Etudes" for piano (2026) – performed live by Onutė Gražinytė

"...and this too shall pass..." for violin, cello, vibraphone, and string orchestra (2021, recording)
