Queer Archiving and Art

išgirsti Lithuanian Queer Archive and the Nordic-Baltic Queer Archival Network are pleased to invite you to a day-long symposium “Queer Archiving and Art” in Vilnius, Lithuania, on September 5, 2026, followed by film screenings, exhibitions and other events within the framework of the 13th Vilnius Queer Festival Kreivės.

Participation in the symposium is free for everyone, but you need to register by September 2 in order to attend. Registration may close earlier if the maximum number of participants is reached.

The symposium will ask how queer histories can be preserved, imagined, and brought into the present. It will bring together archivists, artists, curators, and researchers to explore the many ways queer histories are collected, cared for, interpreted, and shared. Across three sessions, we will consider what makes an archive queer, how artists can work with gaps and fragments in the historical record, and how archives can be activated through artistic and cultural practices. Together, the sessions open up a conversation about queer archives not only as places of preservation, but also as spaces for imagination, intervention, and creating new ways of remembering.
