About this event

Autobiographical contemporary dance performance

Choreographer and performer: Ieva Navickaitė

Venue: Arts Printing House (Menų spaustuvė), Šiltadaržių 6, Vilnius

Date: 2026-05-31, 19:00

Duration: 50 min

N-18

"STRIPPER" is an autobiographical contemporary dance solo performance about the body as a workplace, a political field, and a creative instrument. The project is born from Ieva Navickaitė's more than a decade of experience in the sex work industry and her parallel career as a contemporary dance artist, existing between the theater stage and the erotic nightclub.

Based on transfeminist and queer philosophy, the work explores the relationships of purchased intimacy, body autonomy, and power, eschewing both moralizing and romanticizing. The body here is perceived as agentic, changing, and intersectional – operating at the intersection of economy, politics, and imagination.

"STRIPPER" consciously flirts with academic language but filters it through humor, irony, and personal experience. It is a politically conscious yet highly personal work, inviting not to judge, but to rethink – who is watching, who is evaluating, and who has the right to define the body and its choices.

Be kompanijos seeks to foster dialogue between art and social activity, increase the accessibility of contemporary art, and search for new, unconventional forms of perceiving and experiencing contemporary dance. The organization is characterized by a progressive approach to performing arts and actively contributes to the development of the contemporary dance field. Through its activities, it has created about 30 performing arts works and is active both in Lithuania and internationally.
