The first premiere of the "FELLIANA 2026–2028" trilogy Užupis Drama Theatre presents the first premiere of the "Felliana" theatre cycle, inspired by the work of the legendary Italian filmmaker Federico Fellini.
This is a sensitive, poetic, and grotesque tragicomedy based on the famous film Nights of Cabiria – a story about a small person in a big and indifferent world.
At the center of the play is Cabiria. A lonely prostitute living on the fringes of life, constantly searching for love, intimacy, and faith in humanity. Despite painful betrayals, humiliations, and loneliness, she does not lose the ability to dream, laugh, and believe that life can be beautiful after all.
The lead role of Cabiria is played by Virginija Straigytė.
Cabiria is like an angel with stained wings. She stumbles, makes mistakes, is deceived and hurt, but even after the most painful blows of life, she does not lose her inner light. Her life becomes a constant balancing act between laughter and pain, between reality and dreams.
On stage, fantasy merges with reality: city streets turn into dreamlike spaces, and everyday people become almost circus characters. The Fellini-esque world is created here like a memory or a dream – full of music, lights, shadows, grotesque, melancholy, and the joy of life.
The play intertwines comic and tragic situations, Lindy Hop dances, magic shows, live theatrical energy, and cinematic poetics. The scenography and costumes aim to maintain the authentic atmosphere of the Italian post-war era.
The music of Nino Rota will be played – an inseparable part of Fellini's cinematic world, accompanying the play's characters between dreams, the circus, and the reality of life.
Starring actors of the Užupis Drama Theatre: Virginija Straigytė Artūras Vasnecovas Audrius Jukna Žyginta Jašinskaitė Vaidas Jekimavičius.
A two-part play. With an intermission. Duration: 2 hours 30 minutes.
