About this event

The Vilnius city dance theatre "Low Air" celebrates its 15th anniversary and opens "Platform for the Future" – a space where "Low Air" alumni and their latest works meet. On Saturday evening, we invite you to see three works by young generation dance artists. Ugnė Irena Laurinavičiūtė will present the premiere of her solo work "ON SEEN" – about the constantly changing body and its reality, shaped by the gazes of others, cultural habits, and the repetitions of everyday life.

Monika Čibiraitė and Gabija Čepelytė, in the performance "BOMBING," inspired by street dance and graffiti culture, will encourage reflection on defending values, rebellion, risk, invisible oppression, the price of freedom, and the euphoria of liberation.

Rokas Bugys, in his solo work "SAD DIVA CLUB," will invite you to search for a love language inspired by the waacking dance style and the myth of the mermaid, as well as to draw closer, stop, watch, and taste the seduction.

During the event, there will be short breaks between the performances.

ON SEEN

ON SEEN is a solo work about the constantly changing body and its reality, shaped by gazes, cultural habits, and daily repetitions. Gender here reveals itself not as a given, but as a construct settled over time – an embodied habit that determines how bodies are seen and understood. What seems self-evident begins to slip, change, and take on other forms.

The body here is in constant flux: between different shapes, states, and modes of visibility. Movement is dismantled and reconstructed, allowed to split, overlap, and lose clear boundaries – as if looking through a fogged glass.

The choreography unfolds like compost – from layers, remnants, rhythms, tension, and excess. Movements briefly form, dissolve, and reconnect, like waves that break into foam and gather themselves again.

Instead of a clearly defined identity, a changing terrain opens up, where different expressions overlap, merge, and lose their boundaries. The piece remains in this instability. With the possibility that the body will not settle. With a reality that could still be different.

Ugnė irena laurinavičiūtė

Ugnė Irena Laurinavičiūtė is a "Low Air" alumna, a young generation dancer, performer, and choreographer. Her solo work is inspired by her dance studies in Amsterdam and her work with the "Dresden Frankfurt Dance Company," focusing on the constantly changing body and its reality, shaped by gazes, cultural habits, and daily repetitions. In 2024, Ugnė Irena completed her bachelor's degree in dance at the Amsterdam University of the Arts. She has worked with artists such as William Forsythe, Thomas Hauert, Ioannis Mandafounis, Mario Lopes, Isabel Cordeiro, Emio Greco, Pieter Scholten, Adam Jönsson, Joelina Spiess, Airida Gudaite, Joseph Simon, and others.

The performance was created in collaboration with the Contemporary Dance Association and the Žagarė Culture Centre, as well as during a residency at Akee / Aleknaičiai Culture and Education Space.

BOMBING

BOMBING is a street dance duet balancing between self-expression and crime, individuality and community, hope and resignation. When spray paint cans start to be considered dangerous bombs, and the future of the young generation is painted over with prohibitions, what is left for us? Why do we call the youth the future, but limit their self-expression? Who decides who is destined to create and who is to be silenced? Who decides who will live and who will die?

Inspired by street dance and graffiti culture, BOMBING is a story about defending values, rebellion, risk, invisible oppression, the price of freedom, and the euphoria of liberation – in reality, in imagination, or perhaps only in the peace found in each other's arms.

Monika čibiraitė and gabija čepelytė

Monika Čibiraitė is an artist, dancer, and educator. She completed her bachelor's degree in contemporary dance at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre with a specialization in art pedagogy. Monika is a professional street dancer, specializing in the popping style since 2012. She has over 13 years of experience and is recognized in the popping community in Lithuania and abroad. Monika has long been interested in graffiti art – in 2025, she held her first graffiti art exhibition, "Sigil Mixtape," in Vilnius. From 2024 to 2026, she taught in Sweden at the ÅSA Folkhögskola, where she curated a popping style course and shared her knowledge with an international audience. After her studies, Monika participated in various dance performances and shows, and currently, she is creating independent artistic work and seeking to establish her name in the field of culture and art.

Gabija Čepelytė is a professional dancer, producer, and choreographer working internationally. Her creative practice and core knowledge lie in the history and culture of street dance, especially in hip-hop, house, and popping styles and their techniques. Gabija completed her bachelor's degree in dance with first-class honors at the Surrey/Guildford School of Acting (United Kingdom). Later, she refined her skills in various programs and courses for dancers, producers, and choreographers. Gabija has accumulated extensive experience in the field of street dance theatre and is a recognized participant and organizer in the Lithuanian and international street dance scene.

Sad diva club

"Sad Diva Club" is a solo about the desire to love and be loved, about seduction as a way to get closer to another, and about a body that can be both seductive and vulnerable at the same time. What is the language of love that words cannot express? The dance style of waacking and the myth of the mermaid are the companions of this search.

The body becomes a channel for seduction and connection. The gaze, face, hands, heartbeat, weight, and energy create an invisible thread between the performer and the viewer. Seduction here is not just a promise – it is an invitation to draw closer, stop, watch, and taste.

"Sad Diva Club" searches for what lies between beauty and vulnerability, between fantasy and reality, between what remains and what is constantly changing. Like a wave – always here, but always different: approaching, retreating, returning again. The feet remain rooted in reality, while the body embarks on a dream.

This is a diva who invites you to watch. Or perhaps – to be watched.
