About this event

This year's biggest show for the whole family PEPERIAI AND THE UNDERGROUND CITY: a colorful concert performance of music, dance, pyrotechnics, and special effects, featuring K-POP songs.

In the world of music, K-POP undoubtedly holds a special place, and this musical show is an extraordinary journey where K-POP songs and hip-hop dances create a unique atmosphere, inviting everyone to immerse themselves in the miracle of modern music.

Along with this performance, the first book in the PEPERIAI series will be presented, written by the most popular children's book author Tomas Dirgėla. This book is special because it is created in a completely new, modern style that includes music created originally for the book and performances, as well as innovative storytelling methods. In the book, you will find QR codes that, when scanned, will allow you to hear new songs, letting you immerse yourself even further in the adventures of the PEPERIAI.

Music will become an important part of the entire "PEPERIAI" project. A new music group of the same name is also being introduced, for which original K-POP-inspired songs have been and continue to be created. However, in the concert performance, alongside works created specifically for "PEPERIAI", the audience will also hear globally popular K-POP music associated with names like KATSEYE, BTS, and the film "KPop Demon Hunters".

In the performance, the role of the Underground Ruler will be played by actor Ainis Storpirštis, Saulė will be played by Liepa Šideikytė, Maja by Liucija Nanartavičiūtė, Leo by Kasparas Varanavičius, Lukas by Edas Vieta, and Tomas Dirgėla himself will also appear on stage, along with professional hip-hop culture dancers. The director of the performance is Andrius Žiurauskas.

According to the book's author T. Dirgėla, the idea to create a story inspired by K-POP culture came quite naturally – he was infected with an interest in this music and visual culture phenomenon by his own children.

"At one point, the children became very interested in a popular film of this style – they kept asking to play its songs and constantly talked about it. Eventually, I decided to watch it myself. I turned it on once, and it hooked me so much that I watched it a second, a third, and in total, maybe four or five times," says T. Dirgėla.

According to the writer, the appeal of K-POP to a young audience lies not only in the music. This culture combines sound, a bright and engaging visual world, choreography, and at the same time brings young people together into communities with similar interests.

T. Dirgėla says that it was the combination of Lithuanian content and the globally popular K-POP culture that became one of the most interesting aspects of the new project.

"The uniqueness of both the book and the performance is K-POP culture and an original interpretation of it created in Lithuania, which we haven't had until now. I really hope that children will find it just as fun and attractive as their favorite examples from abroad," says the book's author.

At the center of the first "PEPERIAI" story are four heroes, and its most important themes are friendship, adventure, and the ability to work together.

"No matter how different the characters are, by joining forces they can become one big fist and overcome even those problems that initially seem insurmountable. In the book, I wanted to show children that friendship and teamwork can move mountains," says T. Dirgėla.

The writer is happy that children will be able to discover the world of "PEPERIAI" in different ways – by reading, listening to music, and watching the story on stage.

"It's very cool that the book and the performance will reach readers and viewers almost at the same time. The message remains the same, but on stage, it will be revealed in yet another format – through actors, choreography, music, and stunning visuals, creating an impressive show with special effects and pyrotechnics," reveals T. Dirgėla.

"PEPERIAI and the UNDERGROUND CITY" will be shown on November 28 at the "Compensa" concert hall in Vilnius, on December 20 at the VDU Grand Hall in Kaunas, and on December 31 at the Palanga Concert Hall.

During the performances, the official presentation of the book "PEPERIAI and the UNDERGROUND CITY" will also take place. The events will be attended by its author Tomas Dirgėla, who will meet with young readers.
