Exhibition "Vytautas Pranciškus Straižys (1936-2021), Who Solved the Mystery of the Stars"

About this event

The VU Observatory of Ideas presents an outdoor exhibition dedicated to the prominent Lithuanian astronomer Vytautas Pranciškus Straižys (1936-2021)!

Celebrating the 90th anniversary of V. Straižys this year, we invite you to visit the exhibition "Vytautas Pranciškus Straižys (1936-2021), Who Solved the Mystery of the Stars" starting September 19th.

The exhibition reveals the childhood of the renowned scientist, his university years, and his work and research at the Vilnius University Observatory. We invite you to learn more about the unique Vilnius photometric system, satellite observation, and the prevalence of the unidentified flying object phenomenon in Soviet-era Lithuania. Also, stop by the observatory pavilion, where you can see the astronomer's personal belongings.

Location: VU Observatory of Ideas Park (M. K. Čiurlionio St. 29).

The exhibition is open to visitors Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
