Support discussion "ARMED HISTORY"

Lately, we have been observing how history is increasingly becoming a tool of political influence: occupiers deny Ukrainian statehood through the narrative of "one nation," and similar methods are applied against Lithuania, questioning the heritage of the GDL, the significance of the partisan war, or even the circumstances of the restoration of independence.

Together with historians, archaeologists, and disinformation experts, we will look at this phenomenon from different perspectives – where legitimate historical interpretation ends and deliberate disinformation begins, how historical myths become arguments for modern propaganda, and what material traces of the past can tell us about this. We plan to base the discussion on several concrete examples (Kievan Rus', GDL heritage, 19th-century imperial policy, 20th-century occupations, the events of 1990–1991).
