Bertolt Brecht's play is a short, grotesque story in which absolutely everything is overloaded, broken, and ruined: the furniture, the people, and their relationships. And the climax of all this occurs during the wedding feast. "Bertolt Brecht's 'The Wedding' (this is the original title of the play) speaks about the moral hypocrisy of society. Essentially, everything revolves around the revealed loss of the bride's premarital virginity. In the play, we speak more broadly. Not only about hypocritical morality and virginity, but also about the decay of customs, the absurd deformation of what were once the most sacred things in human existence: weddings, funerals, the sense of the cosmogonic cycle, and traditions of celebration. Of course, a very specific Lithuanian context is also revealed. It is the confusion of a rural person coming to live in the city, even an inability to become a so-called 'townie,' and, of course, a complete lack of understanding of the globalization processes influencing them one way or another. Of course, first and foremost, it is a good comedy, held up like a mirror to us or our loved ones. Here we can truly laugh, if not at ourselves, then at least at our neighbor, and this tradition is immortal among us. Any laughter is good, as long as it does not arise from anger. The performance is extremely open, with a lot of improvisation. The latest social and political current events are constantly being incorporated into it, so it is always changing. The performance is open to the audience. Thus, it never repeats itself and is different every time. So, if you enjoy this Dionysian celebration with Lithuanian potato salad, you can feel free to come back again and again." Director Oskaras Koršunovas
