New Year's Elegance: Timeless Melodies
On New Year's Eve – music that needs no detailed introduction. Nostalgic tangos, waltzes, foxtrots, melodies from musicals and films, Neapolitan songs, and the golden fund of Lithuanian popular music will meet on one stage with three well-known Lithuanian opera soloists and a subtly accompanying instrumental trio.
Evening Program
The light retro music program will revive melodies that echoed in 20th-century Europe and the temporary capital of Lithuania, Kaunas, from the repertoire of D. Dolskis and A. Šabaniauskas, as well as songs by Lithuanian pop classics B. Gorbulskis, M. Vaitkevičius, R. Racevičius, M. Novikas, T. Makačinas, A. Raudonikis, and contemporary composers T. Leiburas, J. Cechanovičius, L. Vilkončius, A. Kulikauskas, and others well-known to the public: hits, duets, trios, and song medleys.
The program, intriguing in its performers, chosen style, and repertoire, will be performed by artists well-known to the public – opera soloists Aistė Pilibavičiūtė (soprano), Kęstutis Alčauskis (tenor), and Dainius Puišys (baritone). This evening, they will appear in a slightly different role – their voices will resonate in an elegant program of golden-age light music, matured and tested by time.
The soloists will be accompanied by an instrumental trio: one of the first jazz promoters in Lithuania, pianist and concertmaster Povilas Jaraminas (piano), composer, arranger, and long-time artistic director and conductor of the LRT Light Music Orchestra Jaroslavas Cechanovičius (guitar), and jazz alchemist, multi-instrumentalist Eugenijus Kanevičius (double bass).
The festive evening program will be accompanied by subtle stories from radio and television host, stage gentleman, and charismatic musicologist Viktoras Gerulaitis about the works, their authors, the performers, and the time in which this music was played.
We will see off the year with music where different times, genres, and performers' experiences meet.
