Musical journeys around the world with Eirimas Velička

The first "Musical Journey with Eirimas Velička" of the autumn season will take us this time to sunny Brazil, where music has a unique and recognizable sound. Listening to this music, the endless blue of the sky and the sunny beaches of Copacabana and Ipanema appear before your eyes. Brazilian music is famous for the noisy and colorful rhythms of the Rio carnivals and fiery Samba batucada, as well as the gentle, dreamy notes of Bossa Nova.

During the meeting, we will listen to authentic samba and bossa nova recordings and get acquainted with memorable albums by Brazilian composer Antonio Carlos Jobim and vocalist and guitarist Joao Gilberto. If we are in the mood, we might even play some music, learn a samba step, and unravel the intricate braids of Brazilian rhythms.

The evening will be hosted by world music expert and Doctor of Art History, Eirimas Velička.
