We invite you to the opening of the "Markučiai Contrasts" exhibition on April 29 at 6:00 PM. During the event, the exhibition will be introduced by its curator, and you will have the opportunity to meet and chat with the authors of the exhibited works.
Walking through Markučiai, the contrasts catch the eye. On one side, new apartment buildings pierce the sky, while wooden houses stand right nearby. The Vilnelė River marks the boundary between city asphalt and forest meadows. In this district, contrasts become a daily companion – they shape not only the environment but also our relationship with it.
The "Markučiai Contrasts" exhibition invites you to look at these layers through the eyes of local creators. It presents the work of artists living in Markučiai: watercolors by Irena Shu, photography by Kotryna Misiūnė, and paintings by Andrius Kviliūnas. Irena works in the medical field and creates using various techniques in her spare time, Kotryna is a journalist and documentary photographer, and Andrius is a painter and video artist. Although the works explore different themes and use different visual languages, they meet in the manor space, creating new connections and meanings.
In the exhibition, the Markučiai Manor reveals itself not only as a historical site but also as a vibrant community space. The museum is not a neutral background here – its architecture, interior, and natural light become an active part of the works, shaping the relationship between the artwork, the environment, and the viewer.
The exhibition will be open at the museum until June 30. You can visit it during museum opening hours with a purchased ticket:
