LINGUA | Lazy Diamond An event from the new music concert series "PLAYGROUND"
In the PLAYGROUND summer program, the group "Lazy Diamond" follows the series' direction of delving into different listening practices and the fringes of contemporary music. The group's work interweaves ambient electronics, contemporary jazz aesthetics, field recordings, and multilingual narratives, creating a unique space that lies between a concert, a soundscape, and a dreamlike sonic atmosphere.
Beneath this sonic aesthetic lies "Lingua" (Latin for tongue, language) – an album whose central symbol is a carbon tongue, speaking in different world languages. By combining instrumental timbres, everyday sounds, and constantly shifting vocal textures, the group members create a mysterious space marked by dreamlike associations and time flowing slower than usual.
More than twenty different languages are heard in the pieces: among them are Swahili, Persian, Thai, and many others. The album reveals docufictional stories of real personalities: on a symbolic level, Antanas Škėma and Franz Kafka, Kaija Saariaho and M. K. Čiurlionis, George Gershwin and a Ukrainian lullaby about sleep and dreams meet.
This is a concert that invites you to travel through the planes of time, different cultures, and imagination.
