A biological revolution takes place in a small gastro-studio selling fermented products. The good bacteria stop working, and no products will ferment anymore. Danilas, the manager of the fermentation shop, who has spent his whole life among bacteria, suddenly hears their voice. They are angry. The bacteria have had enough of exploitation; they want equal rights and threaten the world: "Humans need bacteria, but we don't need humans."
The fermentation process is vital for humans, but the rights of bacteria sound absurd. Will Danilas be able to force humans to empathize with another – a foreign species and its needs? First, he will have to convince two members of the fermentation syndicate – Fatima and Jie, who view the crisis much more pragmatically. This story is an empathy test for humans.
"This is my most lifelike play. The idea for 'Fermentation' was born when I moved to the 11th arrondissement of Paris. On my street, there was a fermentation shop with a charismatic manager. Many details in the play are taken from the secret rooms of that shop, the homemade cider, the vegetables that wouldn't ferment, and the unapologetic approach to life. In fact, it is the perfect place for ideas to ferment – short working hours, delicious food, lunch together. As far as I know, more than one person from the creative team has visited 'Fermentation Générale' on Boulevard Voltaire. The play will definitely feel like freedom, experimentation, laughter, and good taste," says the play's author, Laurynas Adomaitis.
Laurynas Adomaitis and director Antanas Obcarskas are creating a joint production for the fourth time – the stage works "Alice," "Boxing," and "Woyzeck" have already been presented to audiences, but this time the creators are debuting in the LNDT Main Hall.
