About this event

"Book + Cinema: Autumn Cinema Evenings" returns to Vilnius Town Hall

On October 8, the now-traditional event series "Book + Cinema: Autumn Cinema Evenings" will begin at the Vilnius Town Hall. Over three October evenings, audiences will be invited to rediscover the connection between books and cinema – to watch films inspired by literary works and meet their creators.

This year, the 5th anniversary "Book + Cinema" autumn evening series will feature three Lithuanian films: Gytis Lukšas' "Duburys", Raimundas Banionis' "Purpurinis rūkas", and Algimantas Puipa's "Vilko dantų karoliai". After the screenings, there will be discussions with actors and directors about the journey of literary works to the big screen, the language of cinema, and the behind-the-scenes of filmmaking.

"This year we will celebrate the anniversary of the 'Book + Cinema' autumn evening series, which we will solemnly open at the Vilnius Town Hall. We will invite Vilnius residents and city guests to once again turn their attention to Lithuanian literature and the films inspired by it. We will talk with filmmakers about the journey of stories from literary work to the big screen. We hope that even more viewers will join us this year and that this dialogue between literature, filmmakers, and the audience will become even more vibrant," says the project founder and producer Živilė Gallego.

Three October evenings – three stories of Lithuanian cinema:

October 8, 6:00 PM. The event series will open with director Gytis Lukšas' film "Duburys". The guest of the evening is actor Giedrius Kiela.

October 13, 6:00 PM. Viewers are invited to a screening of director Raimundas Banionis' film "Purpurinis rūkas". The guest of the evening is the film's director, Raimundas Banionis.

October 21, 6:00 PM. The series will conclude with director Algimantas Puipa's film "Vilko dantų karoliai". Director Algimantas Puipa himself will meet with the audience.

Event location – Vilnius Town Hall.
