Klaipėda is a city of free thoughts, open people, and an exceptional spirit, an inseparable part of which has been a unique musical history for several decades.

Like New Orleans in the United States, Klaipėda is the Lithuanian cradle of classic jazz. The only port city in Lithuania is a true harbor of cultural transformations, always the first to sense new trends in art and music.

Inspired by global musical winds, a historic jazz ensemble was formed here in 1978 – "Klaipėdos diksilendas". The group soon became one of the most popular and significant classic jazz ensembles in Lithuania, uniting experienced, bright, and distinctive jazz masters of the country. Distinguished by a deep sense of the jazz styles performed, precise and professional interpretation, and artistry, having changed its name several times over four decades, the group returned to the big stage in 2016 as Klaipėda Dixieland "Memeland". The work of the group's first founder, Pranciškus Narušis (who also founded the Department of Pop Music at the Klaipėda faculties of the LVK), was this time carried out by Klaipėda saxophonist Laimonas Urbikas.

A new stage for the legendary ensemble was inspired by L. Urbikas's desire and ambition to bring together traditional jazz lovers for exclusive concerts. At the core of the dixieland is a long-time member of the group, who joined the ensemble back in 1985 – drummer Edmundas Federavičius. The new ensemble presents concert programs together with the most famous vocalists. This time, her voice will be gifted by the charismatic Kristina Jatautaitė, titled the best soloist in Klaipėda.
