Based on the fairy tales of Miloš Macourek
Director Olga Lapina, winner of two Golden Stage Crosses, and the actors of the Keistuoliai Theatre, drawing on the work of Miloš Macourek, open the door to an exceptionally fragile and sensitive world – the experiences of a child taking their first steps in school. The Czech writer, author of the legendary fairy tales about Boniface's holidays and the hippopotamus who was afraid of vaccinations, M. Macourek testifies through his works that a child's imagination is their greatest creative force. The writer's texts are distinguished by unconventional imagery, playful solutions, and characters unexpected to the adult eye.
"The Long Break" is a play not only for schoolchildren; it is a work for everyone in their environment, parents and teachers alike, revealing a vivid world that is constantly changing in the eyes and thoughts of a child – completely different from what we see through an adult's gaze. At the same time, it is a play for everyone who has ever experienced what it means to step out of their safe and somewhat fairy-tale world into the big, different, and intimidating life of school.
