Karolis Šarkus — saxophones Gediminas Stepanavičius — double bass Domantas Razmus — drums (modern jazz, post bop)
Having experimented together many times and met in various ensembles, these three young and energetic musicians decided to join forces and debut as a jazz trio. By omitting an instrument that provides harmony, they convey chordal textures and rhythmic combinations using only two monophonic instruments and a drum kit. The program features jazz tradition presented in a contemporary format — through new compositions or arrangements of jazz standards.
The trio's initiator, Karolis Šarkus, is a saxophonist and composer of the young Lithuanian jazz generation, bridging jazz tradition with a modern sound. Having studied in the Netherlands and the USA, he currently performs actively in Lithuania and abroad, and recently won the prestigious "Premio Internazionale Massimo Urbani" (Italy) and "Big Band Composition Contest for Young Baltic Composers" (Latvia) competitions. Double bassist Gediminas Stepanavičius is a very active performer of improvisational and contemporary music, who studied with Karolis at the Amsterdam Conservatory. Domantas Razmus is a drummer and percussionist of the young Lithuanian jazz and improvisational music generation. He is currently developing a unique project that combines sensory percussion with visuals. Domantas can be seen on stage with the "Vilnius JJAZZ Ensemble" and other groups.
