Kabaretas tarp girnų

"Kabaretas tarp girnų" (Cabaret Between the Millstones) is embarking on a tour of Lithuania: Vytautas Kernagis' songs are reborn in a new musical show featuring Lina Rastokaitė and Jokūbas Bareikis.

At the end of this year, a new musical project, "Kabaretas tarp girnų," will reach Lithuanian cities, bringing together music, theater, humor, and the legendary work of Vytautas Kernagis. Actors and singers Lina Rastokaitė and Jokūbas Bareikis, along with a group of professional musicians, invite audiences to a concert-performance lasting over an hour and a half, where familiar songs will sound brand new.

Following a successful premiere at the Palanga Concert Hall, the agency "Pepper Live," which presents the musical show, is announcing a major festive tour across Lithuania. From the beginning of December to the end of January, "Kabaretas tarp girnų" will visit fifteen cities in the country, inviting the public to remember the legacy of one of Lithuania's most prominent singer-songwriter poets.

The program is based on the legendary songs of the "Tarp girnų" cabaret, which have already become a part of Lithuanian music history. The audience will hear such works as "Mūsų dienos kaip šventės," "Kolorado vabalai," "Kansaras Nr. 2," "Žemutinių pilių šventės," "Santechnikas iš Ukmergės," "Lietuvaitė," "Armonika," "Koja spaudžia gazą," "Šimtas pavasarių," "Kaip gražu miške," and many others. The concert will also feature the previously unreleased Vytautas Kernagis song "Paskutinė Pompėjos diena."

The creators emphasize that this is not just a traditional concert. The scenography, costumes, and lighting solutions created specifically for this project build a unique cabaret atmosphere where retro aesthetics and contemporary stage storytelling intertwine. There is no shortage of humor, improvisation, conversations with the audience, and unexpected theatrical moments that allow viewers to become participants of the evening rather than mere observers.

Lina Rastokaitė and Jokūbas Bareikis create a lively dialogue with the audience on stage, while the group of professional musicians adds new colors to well-known melodies. Music, words, and theatrical form merge here into a cohesive narrative where nostalgic memories blend with a modern perspective.
