On September 3rd, DOWNTOWN PIANO LAB will kick off its new concert season with a special evening dedicated to one of the most influential jazz creators of all time – saxophone legend John Coltrane, whose 100th birth anniversary is being celebrated by the entire music world this year.
Coltrane's music is an endless journey from lyrical ballads to improvisations filled with freedom, intensity, and spiritual quests. His work changed the history of jazz, and albums such as "Blue Train," "Giant Steps," and "A Love Supreme" continue to inspire musicians and listeners of different generations to this day.
On stage:
Rokas Jaunius - tenor saxophone, Vytautas Straižys - piano, Aliaksei Kryshtal - double bass, Drummer - Augustas Baronas
The program will feature legendary compositions, sensitive ballads, and energetic improvisations, where respect for the original will merge with the musicians' lively, contemporary interpretation.
This will not only be a concert but also a symbolic beginning of the new DOWNTOWN PIANO LAB season – an evening full of jazz freedom, unexpected musical dialogues, and the exceptional energy of live sound.
And after the concert, a surprise awaits you – an open Jam session, where the music and improvisations will continue. So, this evening definitely won't end quickly!
The Dainykla project is partially funded by the Vilnius City Municipality.
