The "Jazz'n'Vilnius" event series presents: guitar virtuoso Greg Howe to perform in Lithuania for the first time
Internationally acclaimed guitar virtuoso Greg Howe returns to Europe in 2027 and will visit Lithuania for the first time! On this European tour, he will perform with an exceptional lineup of musicians: legendary drummer Dennis Chambers, bassist Jon Reshard, and keyboardist Marco Corcione will join him on stage. This powerful new concert lineup will allow G. Howe's music to be revealed in a completely new way on stage. Their only concert in Lithuania will take place on May 8, 2027 (Saturday) at the Vilnius club "Tamsta".
The main highlight of the tour is the album "Extraction", which became a significant fruit of the collaboration between G. Howe, D. Chambers, and Victor Wooten. Released in 2003, the album united three exceptional musicians for an impressive instrumental fusion music record, which is still considered one of the most important works in this genre. Despite its huge popularity and influence, the material from the album "Extraction" was never presented on a concert tour, so the "Greg Howe Extraction European Tour 2027" with drummer D. Chambers will be the first opportunity for listeners to hear most of this exceptional music live.
Special message from Victor Wooten
Victor Wooten, whose bass guitar parts were an integral part of the original "Extraction" album, cannot participate in this tour due to previously made commitments. He sent the following message: "Extraction" is one of those records I am particularly proud of. It is perfectly written, intelligent music: it is complex to perform, but easy and pleasant to listen to. To this day, I still receive messages from people all over the world who love this amazing album.
I am very happy that Greg and Dennis will present this music on a concert tour and perform it live for the first time, but at the same time, I regret that due to previously planned work, I will not be able to join them – I will be touring with my brothers at that time.
I am glad that the bass player spot will be filled by my old friend Jon Reshard. I have known him since childhood; I admire his musical talent and am proud of his achievements. I can't wait to hear how he interprets the parts I created and gives them a unique sound. It will be simply amazing!
I have no doubt that a fantastic and inspiring adventure awaits Greg, Dennis, and Jon. My advice to all of you, dear listeners – don't miss this opportunity!"
Fans can expect the tour to draw on the rich musical legacy of "Extraction" and perform such fan-favorite tracks as "Lucky Seven", "Bird's Eye View", and "Proto Cosmos". The program will also feature the album's title track "Extraction" and other pieces captured on this album that have never been performed live before. They will be complemented by Greg Howe's most prominent compositions, such as "Jump Start" and "Kick It All Over". With the addition of keyboardist Marco Corcione and the revelation of the unique musical style of Dennis Chambers and Jon Reshard, well-known tracks will take on new colors and open up wider possibilities for exploring them using more diverse harmonic and improvisational solutions.
Greg Howe
For more than three decades, Greg Howe has remained one of the most influential guitarists in the world, having earned international recognition for his revolutionary legato technique, unique "hammer-on from nowhere" technique, complex harmonic language, and exceptional ability to improvise. His distinctive style has inspired more than one generation of musicians and established him as one of the most respected representatives of the instrumental rock and jazz fusion genre.
His debut album (self-titled) was included in "Guitar World" magazine's list of the best shred-style albums of all time, and his highly acclaimed 2017 album "Wheelhouse" made it into the same publication's top 20 best guitar music albums of the decade (2010–2019).
In addition to a successful solo career, G. Howe has collaborated with many prominent artists, including Michael Jackson, Simon Phillips, Richie Kotzen, Victor Wooten, Billy Sheehan, Jason Becker, Stu Hamm, Marco Minnemann, Eddie Jobson, and many others.
As one of the best studio guitarists in the music industry, he has also performed with Justin Timberlake, Christina Aguilera, Rihanna, Enrique Iglesias, NSYNC, and many other famous artists, and has participated in shows and events such as the Grammy Awards, American Music Awards, The Tonight Show, Today, Billboard Music Awards, and Teen Choice Awards.
Dennis Chambers
Joining Greg Howe on tour will be one of the most respected drummers in contemporary music. For more than four decades, Dennis Chambers has been recognized as one of the most influential and technically advanced drummers in jazz fusion, funk, and contemporary music. Known for his phenomenal speed, impeccable sense of rhythm ("groove"), and unparalleled musicality, Chambers has recorded music and performed with many exceptional artists, including Parliament/Funkadelic, John Scofield, George Duke, Santana, John McLaughlin, Mike Stern, Brecker Brothers, Maceo Parker, CAB, Niacin, and Greg Howe.
Chambers and Howe's collaboration began in 2003 when he joined Howe and bassist Victor Wooten to record the acclaimed instrumental album "Extraction", released by Tone Center / Shrapnel Records.
Being a true drum virtuoso, Chambers started playing at just four years old and performing professionally at six. At just eighteen, he joined the legendary group Parliament/Funkadelic and later became one of the most sought-after drummers in contemporary music. Because of his exceptional ability to combine explosive power with a deep sense of rhythm and complex rhythmic language, he became a role model for entire generations of drummers around the world.
His reputation extends beyond the jazz fusion music community. Before the historic 2007 Led Zeppelin reunion concert, Jason Bonham was asked who could take his father's legendary place on drums. The answer was immediate: "Dennis Chambers. I think he would fit." This remains one of the greatest compliments a drummer can receive and reflects Chambers' status among the greatest musicians of his generation.
Today, Dennis Chambers continues to perform all over the world and remains one of the most respected masterclass leaders, educators, and studio musicians, inspiring both the audience and other drummers with every performance.
Jon Reshard
American bassist and composer Jon Reshard brings a special connection to Greg Howe's music to the "Extraction" concert tour. The long-standing musical friendship between J. Reshard and G. Howe began in 2003 and grew into a collaboration on the recording of G. Howe's acclaimed 2008 album "Sound Proof". This experience gives J. Reshard a unique understanding of G. Howe's musical language and creative style, so his participation in this tour is not just filling a bassist spot, but a continuation of an already established musical partnership linked by a shared history.
A member of the progressive rock band Vigilant, J. Reshard is known for his melodic, harmony-based playing style and an exceptional, custom-made bass guitar with a fretboard that is half-fretted and half-fretless. In addition to releasing two solo instrumental albums ("22" and "Jon Reshard"), he has earned recognition for his innovative approach to the instrument; for example, he was nominated for a "NoTreble" award for his bass guitar arrangement of Billy Joel's song "She's Always a Woman".
J. Reshard is successfully developing his career by collaborating with artists such as Dave Weckl, Tony Royster Jr., Thomas Pridgen, and Morris Hayes, and in the past has even played with the famous Prince. He brings a combination of technical precision, musicality, and versatility to every project.
In 2024, J. Reshard joined the world-famous K-pop group Stray Kids as a bassist on their "DominATE" world tour, performing in more than 40 cities around the world. Due to his extensive international touring experience and deep roots in progressive music and the fusion genre, he is a perfect fit for Greg Howe's upcoming tour.
Marco Corcione
Italian pianist, keyboardist, arranger, and composer Marco Corcione is an experienced and versatile musician whose work spans the genres of jazz, rock, and contemporary music. Over a career spanning more than two decades, he has earned recognition both as a performer and as an innovative music educator. He has collaborated with world-renowned artists such as Carl Verheyen and Paul Warren (who played with Rod Stewart) and has appeared on prime-time RAI 1 television shows.
As a composer and producer, M. Corcione creates music for films, international releases, and independent projects. It is worth noting that his piece "Meaningless" was featured in Gianni Amelio's film "La tenerezza" (RAI Cinema).
M. Corcione's joining the band is another important element of this tour's musical identity. With Howe performing with a keyboardist again after many years, listeners can expect a wider harmonic palette and greater possibilities for interaction and improvisation when performing Howe's compositions.
An unmissable evening of world-class fusion music
Greg Howe, Dennis Chambers, Jon Reshard, and Marco Corcione together form an extraordinary ensemble that combines the legacy of "Extraction" with a new and expanded live interpretation of Greg Howe's music.
Chambers brings an explosive rhythmic voice characteristic of the original "Extraction" collaboration, Reshard brings his history with Howe and a deep understanding of his musical language, and Corcione expands the ensemble's harmonic and improvisational capabilities. This tour offers something more than just a recreation of a historical record.
For fans of instrumental rock, jazz fusion, and world-class musicianship, Greg Howe's "Extraction European Tour 2027" promises an extraordinary live sound experience – presenting music on European stages for the first time that has never been heard live before, and performing it in a program built on long-term musical connections and a new creative perspective.
