A break from Eurovision: British electronic soul artist Jamie Woon will present his new album at Kablys this autumn
A true break from Eurovision. It has been announced that the subtle British electronic soul artist Jamie Woon will present his new album, "3, 10, Why, When," in the capital this autumn.
After a long creative hiatus, Jamie Woon is returning in full force and will perform at Kablys with his band on September 10. This is one of the most significant musical comebacks in the industry in recent years. He is considered a London soul pioneer and is one of the most interesting artists of his generation. Unexpected, but long-awaited. "I've released a new album with a strange title. It's my most vulnerable release to date. Time for a concert tour! I've missed it terribly," announces Jamie Woon.
This visit is presented by the music agency "8 Days A Week," whose honor roll includes many artists with a similar sound: SOHN, Rhye, RY X, Alexis Taylor, Chet Faker, Bonobo, Ásgeir, and many others.
Jamie Woon's music is warm, subtle, easily immersive, and pleasantly memorable. However, behind his modest image lies an ambitious creator for whom creativity has always been everything or nothing. This explains both the early critical acclaim and his long disappearance from the public eye.
Jamie Woon's first album, "Mirrorwriting," received significant attention and praise from critics. His second album, "Making Time," was nominated for the Mercury Prize. Jamie Woon found himself among the most prominent British musicians of his generation.
And then – he disappeared from the public eye. While fans waited for new music from Jamie, he was actively working behind the scenes, collaborating with Burial, Disclosure, Elmiene, and many others. He is still admired and supported by names like Erykah Badu and Pharrell Williams.
"For many years, I was stuck and blocked. It was all because of those stupid words. I was constantly tormented by the question: 'What is worth saying? What should I broadcast and write?' I don't even know how this thought took root in me, but it caused a lot of anxiety, and later, shame. Music is the best job in the world. That's probably a hint as to why I got stuck for so long. Writing songs became difficult. But at some point, with love and support, to my own surprise, new work just appeared. Now I have a lot of very personal songs about vulnerability," Jamie Woon reveals on his Substack, having plenty to share after all this time. He actually likes Substack and writes a lot there about the creative process, experiences, and feelings.
News of Jamie's new work delighted thousands of fans around the world. "I've been waiting for this for ten years. Thank you for coming back. I was nervous because I didn't know what I would hear after so long. I was afraid it wouldn't be what I had been waiting for so long, but the new album is wonderful," shares fan Kate.
"Every few months, I would search the internet for any signs of life from Jamie. I checked every forum – nothing. And now he's finally back! Jamie Woon is the most unnecessarily underrated artist of our generation," writes another listener, Thomas, under Jamie's new post.

New album "3, 10, Why, When"
Jamie Woon's new album, "3, 10, Why, When," appeared quite unexpectedly. After Jamie began working with producer Martin Terefe, whose sound is unusual for him, a few individual studio sessions gradually grew into a full album. "He sort of tricked me into making an album," Woon admits with a smile.
What can you expect from an artist after a long silence? If he drifts too far from his recognizable sound, he risks losing what made him special. If he stays too faithful to the past, he might give the impression that his work hasn't moved forward. The ten-track album "3, 10, Why, When" balances between these two poles. Jamie tries new things while reminding us what he has always done best. The release "3, 10, Why, When" features elements of R&B, electronica, and pop music. Sharp percussion blends with lush string parts. The release is fragile, sensitive, and open. Jamie Woon's vocal abilities are something else. You can only imagine how this album and his music catalog sound live today.
"No one makes music for night drives as well as Jamie Woon does," writes the influential music publication Clash.
The album was released by Jamie Woon's own record label, Also Can. A clear and firm step forward. This work is an attempt to understand how independence can foster creativity. "I don't really know how to explain this music. It's hard for me to believe it even exists," admits Jamie.
After a long search for himself, it seems that Jamie simply couldn't stop creating. The stage is in his DNA. To all those who have been waiting for so long, welcome back.
10 concerts have been announced for this tour. The performance in Vilnius will be the only one in the Baltic states. If this name is new to you, now is the time to get to know him.
