Kolonija Antika opens its gates to city guests!
Stepping through the heavy metal doors of the Lukiškės Prison's second block, you will find yourself in an isolated, mythical city-colony. This is not as distant a dystopia as it might seem at first glance. Is it a suggestive antiquity, a dangerously recognizable present, or a programmed future? Or is it all one and the same?
The action of "Kolonija Antika," taking place simultaneously on several floors of Lukiškės Prison, invites viewers to move freely and choose their own route of experience. Trust your fate and let yourself be led forward into a dystopian world.
At the center of this immersive (experiential) performance is the eternal cycle of renewal. Here, chaos destroys stagnant forms and opens up new possibilities. Fragments of the narrative emerging in the spaces allow everyone to piece together their own story, experiencing it from different perspectives. "Kolonija Antika" consciously moves away from traditional theater. The created environment provokes a ritual – as a response to collapse and a way to survive.
A dystopia where rebirth and collapse are inseparable. What does it remind you of?
"Kolonija Antika" is the latest immersive work by director Paulius Markevičius and the theater "Tolyn gilyn," providing the viewer with an authentic experience. In 2024, "Tolyn gilyn" won the "Golden Stage Cross" for another immersive performance, "Café Existants," as well as the "Exceptional Performance Award" at the Vilnius International Theatre Festival "Sirenos" in 2024.
