The jazz group "The World Famous Glenn Miller Orchestra", led by Uli Plettendorff, presents a new program!
After more than 40 years and over 5,200 concerts across Europe, Wil Salden has retired. Uli Plettendorff, who worked in the Glenn Miller Orchestra as a trombonist from its very first days, now continues the traditions as the new leader of the orchestra.
In the 2026/27 season, the Glenn Miller Orchestra will once again embark on a major tour of Europe and inspire listeners of all ages around the world.
Every two years, this sophisticated and stylish ensemble visits Lithuania.
The orchestra is one of only three orchestras in the world authorized to use this name and the only one permitted to operate in the Baltic states!
The Glenn Miller Orchestra's repertoire includes pieces by prominent composers of the big band era – the legendary jazz era of the 1930s–50s.
Wil Salden, a well-known musician and performer from the Netherlands, fell in love with jazz long ago and for good, and managed to bring together excellent musicians from various countries who are just as in love and passionate about jazz.
Wil and his musicians try to revive Miller's magical formula: "Every soloist and music arranger should strive to create a completely new and flawless sound, recognizable from the very first notes".
By the way, according to legend, the most unique and truly recognizable sound of the Glenn Miller Orchestra was born completely by accident. During a concert, a trumpeter injured his lip, and a musician with a clarinet was forced to take over his role.
Thus was born the Glenn Miller playing style – a style that gives listeners an unforgettable feeling of celebration and contact with the miracle of Music!!
Naturally, the culmination of the concert will be the performance of the most famous piece - "Moonlight Serenade" from the film "Sun Valley Serenade", which immerses the viewer in the incredible atmosphere of the Glenn Miller era.
