About this event

Performers: MAXIM LANDO (piano, USA)

Program features – Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis, David Chesky, George Gershwin–Earl Wild, Stephen Sondheim–Scott Wheeler, Billy Joel–Maxim Lando, Ferenc Liszt, Robert Schumann

After pianist Maxim Lando's concert, The New York Times wrote: "A concert that offers astonishment and infectious enthusiasm," the Glover Festival called him "one of the most brilliant and inventive young pianists to emerge in recent years," and Bechstein World stated: "One of the most powerful pianists I have ever encountered."

M. Lando first made international headlines in 2017, performing at Carnegie Hall alongside Lang Lang, Chick Corea, and the Philadelphia Orchestra, conducted by Yannick Nézet-Séguin. This concert opened the door for the 14-year-old to perform with renowned orchestras around the world. The 2024 laureate title at the prestigious Cleveland International Piano Competition only solidified his status as a rising global star of piano art. The pianist's concerts take place at New York's Carnegie Hall and Alice Tully Hall, Alte Oper in Frankfurt, the Louis Vuitton Foundation, Salle Cortot in Paris, the National Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing, and many other venues worldwide. Recorded with German violinist Tassilo Probst, M. Lando's album "Into Madness" was awarded the International Classical Music Award (ICMA) in 2023 as the best chamber music recording of the year.

M. Lando is a passionate lover of chamber music and unusual repertoire. We will be convinced of this in this concert as well: using an extremely interesting and diverse program, the pianist, together with the Tytuvėnai Festival, the M. K. Čiurlionis House in Vilnius, and the Lithuanian National Philharmonic, invites you to celebrate the birthday of Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis.
