About this event

On May 7, 2026, at 5:00 PM, the LPC Art Gallery (J. Matulaičio a. 3, Vilnius) will host the opening of "Two Paths," an exhibition featuring works by painter and scenographer Giedrė Riškutė-Kariniauskienė and ceramicist Algimantas Patamsis.

The exhibition invites viewers to explore the worlds of two distinct creators, where color meets form, intuition meets technology, and emotion meets material. It is a meeting of two artistic paths that reveals different yet complementary creative directions.

VMU professor and painter Giedrė Riškutė-Kariniauskienė is an artist who has held over 30 solo exhibitions and actively participates in international symposia and plein-air events. For a long time, she worked in the field of scenography, creating sets and costumes for more than fifty theatrical productions, as well as for the World Lithuanian Song and Dance Festival and the international folklore festival "Baltica." Nature-inspired themes and emotional states, revealed through color, mood, and subtle painterly layers, hold an important place in her work. Her pieces convey a sensitivity and inner silence that invite the viewer to personal reflection.

VMU associate partner and ceramicist Algimantas Patamsis is one of the few contemporary ceramicists working with crystalline glaze techniques. In this exhibition, the artist presents urns of incredible beauty—exceptional works that merge technical mastery, surfaces inspired by natural structures, and deep symbolic meaning. His work opens up a world of galaxies, constellations, and organic forms, inviting reflection on the fragility and harmony of existence.

It is no coincidence that this exhibition is presented at the LPC Art Gallery, which belongs to the Funeral Services Center—a space where art and fundamental questions of existence meet. Here, the focus is on the fragility of life, memory, and inner experiences. It is a place where people pause to draw inspiration from art, find peace, be with themselves, and engage in quiet reflection on the meaning of life.

During the exhibition opening, a dialogue between music and art will create a special atmosphere: Loreta Sungailienė, a well-known Lithuanian folklore performer, promoter of ethnic culture, and television host, whose voice and authentic relationship with tradition create a sensitive emotional space, will participate, alongside trombone virtuoso Vytautas Pilibavičius. Live music will blend with painting and ceramics, allowing for an even deeper experience of creativity, emotion, and life itself.

The "Two Paths" exhibition is not only a presentation of the two authors' work but also an invitation for the viewer to embark on a personal experience—to stop, look closely, and discover their own relationship with art, and through it, with life itself.
