At the beginning of November, Lithuania celebrates All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day; on these days, it is customary to visit cemeteries and light candles on graves. On such days, cemeteries are simply mesmerizing.
I invite you to take a walk with me through one of the oldest active cemeteries in Vilnius, learn its history, listen to stories from the lives of the people resting here, and enjoy this unforgettable sight that only happens a couple of days a year!
Rasų Cemetery is one of the most important cemeteries in the country - here lie the signatories of the 1918 Act, famous politicians, and cultural figures.
Also buried here are Vilnius residents of Polish, Belarusian, and German descent. In the chapel are the remains of the rebels of 1863-64.
There is also a monument to unborn children, soldiers' graves, and a place for orphans.
Rasų Cemetery is almost no longer used for burials, but it still attracts visitors with its stories and interest in the lives of the people buried here, who once created the history of the city.
During the tour, we will discuss all this and much more. Join us!
Tickets for this event are non-refundable and non-exchangeable.
