The festival will be crowned by the unique brass ensemble from Norway, "tenThing". Founded by the renowned trumpeter Tine Thing Helseth, the ensemble has become a true symbol of Scandinavian mastery and creative energy today. The group of ten talented women breaks all stereotypes about the "masculine" nature of brass instruments and plays music ranging from Baroque masterpieces to jazz standards and contemporary compositions.
The tenThing ensemble was founded in 2007 by Norwegian trumpeter Tine Thing Helseth. It is a ten-member, all-female brass ensemble known for its mastery, as well as the democratic and diverse nature of its programs. The collective's repertoire consists of music from Mozart to Weill, from Grieg to Bernstein, and from Lully to Bartók. They have performed at the Schleswig-Holstein, Beethovenfest Bonn, Gstaad, MDR Musiksommer, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Thüringer Bachwochen, and other festivals, and have toured in the USA, Canada, and elsewhere. The ensemble performs its entire rich and genre-diverse repertoire without a conductor, thus emphasizing exceptional mutual listening, mastery of chamber music, and breaking gender stereotypes in the world of brass music.
Tine Thing Helseth is one of the most prominent contemporary Norwegian trumpeters, performing with the world's most famous orchestras, such as the Vienna Symphony, London Philharmonic, or BBC Symphony Orchestra, and has gained recognition at prestigious festivals, including the BBC Proms. In 2006, she won second place in the Eurovision Young Musicians competition, in 2007 she was awarded the prestigious "Musician of the Year" (Årets musiker) title in Norway, and in 2013 she was honored with the prestigious "Echo Klassik" award.
