About this event

This is the second urban exploration route dedicated to discovering the extraordinary stories of Vilnius women.

The stories of this walk are about rebels who were destined to live in the last century - a true century of change.

Governments and currencies changed, empires collapsed, new states were formed, occupations and wars plagued the land, yet the heroines of this tour lived boldly - they worked, created, learned, did not give up, resisted, changed, searched, protected, wrote, and walked along untrodden paths of heroic deeds.

Together, we will discover the undeservedly forgotten women of Vilnius: Marija, Beatričė, Ona, Marcelė, Elena, Judita, Emilija, Sara, and other rebels.

During the walk, you will hear stories about: a rescue operation of Lithuania carried out by a spy; the path to becoming the city's first female doctor; the youngest Jewish female partisan of Vilnius; a queen without a throne who cared for the children of Vilnius; a creator who worked not by following the fashions of the time, but for the people; an anarchist who became the first Righteous Among the Nations in Lithuania; a poet whose verses pulse with the city; and a visionary who was able to turn every "no" into a "yes".

Important: The stories and characters of this tour do not repeat those in the "(Un)forgotten Women of Vilnius" tour, so it is suitable for both those new to the topic and those continuing to collect stories about the women of Vilnius.

Duration: 2 - 2.15 hours.

Start: Margutis Square (Pylimo St.)

End: Vilniaus St.
