DUO: Gelgotas

Visionary sound and virtuoso mastery

On September 17, the piano and double bass duo of Gediminas Gelgotas and Roman Patkoló will perform at the Vilnius Town Hall. The creative partnership of these two musicians is already familiar in Lithuania – Roman Patkoló has performed here multiple times as a soloist with chamber and symphony orchestras conducted by Gediminas Gelgotas, as well as with the ensemble NIKO. However, it is the dialogue of their duo that will be heard on the Lithuanian stage for the first time. After this concert in Vilnius, the duo will continue their concert tour in Italy.

Over nearly a decade of collaboration, Gediminas Gelgotas and Roman Patkoló have created an exceptional musical bond based on mutual trust, creative freedom, and a deep sense of each other's musical language. In 2018, one of Germany's most important classical music broadcasters, BR-KLASSIK, dedicated a special hour-long live broadcast to this artist duo. Their joint recordings and concerts have also been featured in significant classical music publications such as Gramophone and The Strad.

Roman Patkoló has won the prestigious OPUS KLASSIK award as Instrumentalist of the Year. His concert geography includes Carnegie Hall in New York, the Kennedy Center in Washington, the Verbier and Lucerne festivals, and other major world classical music stages. Gediminas Gelgotas is one of the most prominent creators of contemporary Lithuanian music, whose work organically blends the aesthetics of minimalism, contemporary sound, rhythmic energy, and a strong emotional charge.

The evening's program will feature music by Gediminas Gelgotas, one of the most influential composers of our time Philip Glass, and other creators.
