Latvians Deniss Pashkevich (saxophone, flute, synthesizers), Edvins Ozols (double bass), and Artis Orubs (drums) are three bright personalities meeting in a rarely seen musical fellowship. This project of theirs is a combination of spontaneity, freedom of improvisation, and personal musical experiences.
The trio's work weaves together swing, funk, old school jazz, world music, and rock rhythms, and the performers consciously avoid a commercial sound. The pieces to be performed at the concert from this year's released album "Code of Ethics 2" are a bold, avant-garde look at contemporary jazz, which the musicians themselves call a "radical invitation to the world of modern jazz."
The trio has already received recognition from international jazz critics:
"Deniss knows exactly what he is aiming for in his music. Colors, textures, sounds – everything is created with taste and mastery. Listen to the atmosphere being created – it is exceptional and unique. A great presentation!" - David Liebman (jazz educator, saxophonist, composer).
"In a world where everything is often conveyed too directly, it is wonderful to hear music that draws you in rather than pushes you away. Perfectly subtle. Deniss's playing is sincere, full of nuances. The group is characterized by great chemistry and a mature stance. There is not a single unnecessary note here. Today, many recordings sound as if they are from rehearsals or competitions, but your music is pure, real. A great pleasure to listen to. Congratulations." - Jerry Bergonzi (saxophonist, composer, and educator)
"The sounds, rhythms, and musical structures created by this trio are unheard of, and the experience remains in the mind even after many listens. For those who, like me, seek to convey sound as accurately as possible, this is pure gold." - Amedeo Schembri (audio equipment designer)
